Art Show at Gold Star
I'll be showing the Wrigleyville North pieces '05 and '06 - some have been modified/completed since. And the Chicago Postcard Series '09 - five from the Rasmussen wedding and 1 from my fathers collection. I hung my most precious piece there tonight and I cant seem to relax knowing its hanging in some strange bar. I havent been away from it in 4 years - i know, it's silly, but these pieces are part of me. If anything were to happen to them I would be crushed.

The 18x24 Castle on my desk.
When I first started Scratching... I was still working at the Wrigley North and this guy (who ended up getting his skull crushed outside the bar) loved my stuff and offered to pay me $500 to "make him a castle" - so i did. Not because I thought in a million year this drunken douchebag was going to pay me, but just because I like castles. I became obsessed, not able to put the blade down. At one point I said I was just going to scratch until all the black was gone...I began to hate it...and yet, I dont think I'll ever be able to let it go. Now it sits on my desk collecting dust. Every time I look at it I think "Holy shit, I was determined!" I havent worked on a piece like this in quite some time. I don't think my wrist could take the abuse. Well, maybe.

Off the Bus....

This is definitely one of my favorite pieces.
I scratched this from a b/w photo I shot while getting off the bus at the corner of Lawrence and Western. I had the camera at my waist when I took it. This couple was just so beautifully sad.
Darragh Hogan owns an original print.
Likenesses....
These are a few years old.
I hope to complete many more "likenesses" in the next few weeks.
Mo, Em, Kar, Kev....there are so many I'd love to scratch out!
This first one I originally titled "Sirens" but it is Paulina's likeness on the right...
(With a little eeviiil in her...)
Paulina.
Pauly.
